Hi there – My name is Barb Williams, and I’ve been with the City of Otsego as a building permit technician for 22 years now. As corny as this sounds, I absolutely love helping people as much today as I did when I started. Our jobs as ‘First Preventers’ entail educating not only contractors and homeowners but our co-workers and supervisors as well. Being a part of this organization and being ICC certified has made it extremely easy to do just that. Considering that I had never heard of a Building Permit Technician, I am so happy that I ‘stumbled’ into a career of which I am immensely proud.
